Midland Radio Corporation specializes in wireless two-way and weather/hazard radios, and has been offering two way radios since 1959. With such a long history, Midland had some neat firsts, like being the first company to offer CB radios in the US, as well as being the first company to offer a 14 channel FRS radio. In your search for the right two-way radio for your needs, you will probably encounter a Midland two way radio.
Midland offers these two-way radios:
- Midland G-30 radios have a five mile range, 15 channels, 38 sub channels, and has 2 watts of power.
- Midland 75-440 series radios also have 2 watts and up to 5 miles for the range but there are 23 channels, 104 digital and 50 CTCSS sub codes. The 75-440 also meets military specifications for shock, water resistance, and vibrations. This radio runs $229.95.
- Midland X-Tra Talk GMRS: this series of two way radios starts at $39.95 and goes up to $59.95. The lower end models have 2 watts, a seven mile range, and a one year warranty while the upper end model has three watts of power, a ten mile range, and a three year warranty. Each of these sets of two way radios requires 4 AAA batteries.
- Midland GMRS G-series: the radios in this series come in grey, red, and blue all of which have 2 watts of power, a seven mile range, and 22 channels. They have a three year warranty and are all water resistant.
- Midland F-10 radios are also in the G-series and are the world's smallest, most compact set of two way radios. They have 14 channels and a two mile range and use 3 AAA batteries.
- Midland 75-517CBX: These radios are the only FRS w/83 DCS and there are 38 CTCSS
equaling a total 1694 combinations. The range is 2 miles on land and 5 miles on water.
